An unknown male who allegedly stabbed a woman in the leg before stealing her money near the Katherine Showgrounds remains at large, as police call on those with information to come forward.
Authorities were notified of the incident at about 4.30am Sunday.
Northern Territory Police said that the woman, aged 19, was walking through a field when she was approached by a “male unknown to her”.
NT Police alleged the man stabbed her in the leg and stole her money before fleeing the scene.
The alleged offender later returned, police said, and gave the woman her money back and stayed with her until she was able to flag down a passing motorist.
The woman was transported to Katherine Hospital where she received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
NT Police said it conducted a search of the area, however the offender still remains at large.
Investigations remain ongoing, police said.
Detectives urge anyone with information, including relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number P25193841.
