TWO childhood mates have been jailed for the brutal murder of teenager Damien Everett outside Corio South Primary School.
Supreme Court Justice Betty King handed down her sentence today and described the February 2008 killing as "barbaric", the Geelong Advertiser reports.
Corio's Joel Hargreaves, 22 stabbed the 18-year-old victim three times in the back in an unprovoked attack when Mr Everett was returning home after buying a soft drink from a local service station.
In the same attack, Glenn McIntosh, 23, of Corio, delivered seven blows to Mr Everett's head, shattering his skull.
Hargreaves pleaded guilty to murder and received a shorter sentence than McIntosh, who pleaded not guilty.
A jury found McIntosh guilty in September and he was today sentenced to 23 years in prison with a minimum of 19 years before being eligible for parole.
Hargreaves was sentenced to 20 years with a minimum of 16.
