It seems the wet weather is starting to get to everyone, including our cold-blooded neighbours.
A childrens’ playground in Rowes Bay was turned into a snake rest-stop on Thursday morning, when a massive python was spotted trying to dry itself out on a piece of play equipment.
Energetic man-about-town, former radio DJ, morning walker and now snake photographer Steve ‘Pricey’ Price was the one to notice the giant.
“Now that I have plenty of time on my hands I do a lot of walking, and every second day I walk Rowes Bay,” Pricey said.
“I’ve seen about three or four snakes in Rowes Bay, they are certainly around and I think it’s wonderful to have these animals here. I am one of those people who likes snakes.”
Pricey said the snake was “fast asleep” on the piece of rope bridge and kept its head tucked inside its coils.
“I don’t know whether the wet weather has brought the snake out, or if the rain is keeping the children away and that’s why he’s come out,” Pricey said.
“Just looking at him, I was reminded of the old Snakes and Ladders in Flinders St.”
While the python does look pretty unassuming all curled up, stretched out he would be at the top-end of the carpet python growth range.
Despite this, he’s still got some growing to do to match the Jezzine Barrack’s monster python of 2022.
