Police have launched an investigation after a 64-year-old wildlife carer was allegedly strangled and threatened with a club on the grounds of a decaying Gold Coast golf course.

The volunteer had been on the Arundel Hills Country Club fairway when she observed a dog chasing kangaroos about noon on September 3.

She beckoned the dog and restrained it by the collar, before the dog’s owner approached the carer and allegedly strangled her momentarily.

Police allege the dog’s owner then threatened the 64-year-old with a golf club before walking away.

Investigators have released a picture of a woman they want to speak to in relation to the alleged attack.

Arundel Hills Country Club went into administration in May, just weeks after the Bulletin reported it had fallen into a state of disrepair and was overrun with aggressive kangaroos.

In April, a woman suffered cuts to her face after she was viciously attacked by a kangaroo at the golf course.Police urge anyone with information about the alleged assault to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
