Police are investigating after a body was found.

Police and Queensland Health are investigating after a woman admitted to a Gold Coast hospital was found dead in a creek.

The body of the woman was found in Mudgeeraba Creek near CBus Stadium at Robina on Monday morning.

She was taken by ambulance to the nearby Robina Hospital emergency department on Saturday, July 23 for mental health treatment.

“She was triaged in ED, and observed on CCTV leaving the hospital of her own accord less than one hour later...wearing the same clothes as when she arrived,” a Gold Coast Health spokeswoman said.

It was initially reported that the woman was found dead wearing a hospital gown and bracelet and that she had left after waiting hours for treatment.

Her death was not believed to be suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

A worker spraying for weeds near the scene where the body was found said she wasn’t surprised by the discovery.

“A few months ago I found a dead cow further up the creek entangled in barbed wire in the mangroves so if it could go this long without being found, I’d hate to know what else is floating in there (the creek),” she said.

Queensland Police Service officers were called to Centreline Place when the body was discovered in Mudgeeraba Creek about 10.20am, a spokeswoman said.

The pathway along the creek is popular with runners and dogwalkers.
