Bizarre road rules that carry big fines

A woman has been airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital following a mishap while hiking at National Lamington Park.

It is understood the woman tripped and fell while bushwalking near Picnic Rock with a friend just before 1pm on Thursday.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed QG Air Rescue 500 with on-board paramedics was tasked to the scene from Archerfield Airport.

No other injuries were reported.

Driver mows down traffic light in Gold Coast Hwy crash

A DRIVER has been treated for minor injuries after running down a traffic light in a crash on the Gold Coast on Thursday morning.

Emergency services including police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the single-car crash at the intersection of Gold Coast Highway and Venice St, Mermaid Beach about 5.30am.

They found a female driver had crashed into a traffic light, which was knocked over but still operating.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics treated the driver, of an undisclosed age, for minor injuries and she was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services attended, a spokesman said, but the crew did not need to extinguish a fire or remove the driver from the car.

Gold Coast police have been asked whether any further action will be taken after the crash.

Repairs will be undertaken on the traffic light.

No traffic delays were reported by emergency services.

M1 delays: Two-car crash causing headache for commuters

August 11: Evening commuters have been warned to expect some delays along the M1 southbound following a traffic crash at Nerang.

Parademics were called to the on-ramp at Nerang about 4pm in response to a two-vehicle collision that had partially blocked the far left lane.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said two patients, both females in their 20s, were assessed at the scene.

They did not required transport to hospital. Police remain at the scene directing traffic.

Patient rushed to hospital after snake bite at Coast park

August 11: Paramedics have taken a patient to hospital after they were bitten by a snake in a picturesque Gold Coast park.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics were called to Main Beach Parade at Main Beach about 11.05am on Wednesday.

The snake bite occurred near the bike path in Macintosh Island Park, according to an ambulance service statement.

The patient of an undisclosed age and gender was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Environmental authorities advise that snakes can still be seen on the move on the Coast in winter due to the city’s moderate seasonal temperature.
