Pair arrested following alleged armed robbery in Southport
A man has been charged by police after an alleged early morning robbery on the Gold Coast. Read when he’ll face court.

A man has been charged by police after a frightening alleged armed robbery at Southport in the early hours of Monday morning.
Officers were called to Baratta St, not far from the GoldlinQ light rail depot, at about 1am, shortly after a woman was allegedly threatened with a weapon and had her handbag stolen.
Gold Coast Superintendent Brett Jackson said: “There was reports of a handgun (produced) however police have not yet recovered a weapon.
“A male and female decamped. The police dog squad attend that location and were able to perform a track.
“Police now have a male and female in custody who are assisting with inquiries.”
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said in a statement that a 30-year-old from Nerang has since been charged with a number of offences including one count each of possession of a knife in a public place, possessing dangerous drugs, possess utensils or pipes that had been used and driving without a licence.
Separately, the man has been charged with two counts of fraud relating to alleged fuel drive-offs on November 28 and December 9.
He will face Southport Magistrates Court on January 21.
Investigations into the alleged robbery are ongoing.
