One of the most popular pizzerias on the Gold Coast has just opened its third location.
Merlins Pizza unveiled its Worongary store on Monday and co-owner Jordan Powell said they had an “amazing turnout”.
It follows the eatery’s Gold Coast debut at Palm Beach in 1991 and second shop in Varsity Lakes in 2017.
“It just made sense to open a third store,” Mr Powell said.
After almost eight months of transforming the Worongary Town Centre shopfront, he said it was a “relief” to be open.
“The fit-out period was challenging and at times stressful,” Mr Powell said.
Mr Powell said he and co-owner Scott Jelich had always planned to open more Merlins further north.
“Worongary and the surrounding suburbs have an amazing community feel,” he said.
“The shops and cafes have been super keen to help and support us which is so amazing.
“We’ve had nothing but positive feedback.”
Worongary residents who saw the announcement on Facebook said they were ecstatic to have a Merlins Pizza within their reach.
“Woo-hoo. We have missed you since we moved. Bring on a Dragon’s Breath pizza and the best margarita pizza ever,” Karyn Saunders said.
Aileen Crofts said Merlins Pizza was the “best”, while Nelarda Tyson commented: “If they’re the same as the ones in Palm Beach, we’re in for a treat”.
Mr Powell said their specialty pizza Excalibur, topped with mozzarella cheese, ham, freshly sliced button mushrooms, capsicums, onion, spicy pepperoni, pineapple, bacon, olives and garlic sauce, was their most popular item.
“But if you like a bit of spice I recommend the Dragon’s Breath.”
