A manhunt is underway after a woman was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted on a busy Gold Coast street in an early morning attack.
The victim was crossing Currumburra Road near Koonan Court in Ashmore just before 5am on Friday when she was set upon.
“A man, not known to her, has approached the woman from behind and inappropriately grabbed her,” A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman said.
“The man fled the scene on foot heading south.”
Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigations branch are investigating the incident and have appealed for public assistance.
Anyone who was in the vicinity of Currumburra Road, between Cotlew Street and Southport Nerang Road, between 4.30am and 5.30am on Friday, September 20 are urged to contact police.
The incident occurred not far from Go Bowling Ashmore and several hundred metres down the road from the community centre.
