‘Trolls don’t know me’: Influencer Rachael Evren reveals mental health battle

A Gold Coast influencer and booted Love Island contestant has opened up about her battle with trolls, also revealing which social media platforms are the 'worst' for her mental health.

A Gold Coast influencer and booted Love Island contestant has opened up about her battle with trolls, also revealing which social media platforms are the “worst” for her mental health.

The popular TikTok content creator was dumped from the reality television dating show on Monday night’s episode.

Rachael Evren admitted it was “heartbreaking” to see her partner and fellow Gold Coaster Chris hook-up with newcomer Zoe just a day later.

“I did not see that coming from a mile away,” the pilates instructor told the Bulletin.

“But I keep saying, everything happens for a reason.

“If we’re meant to be together, then it will happen.”

Ms Evren is no stranger to social media, having amassed more than 11 million likes on TikTok and 38,000 Instagram followers.

But with all those fans has come a fair amount of trolls.

“I’ve had to deal with hate comments and trolls before going on Love Island,” she said.

“That has increased after being on national television.

“One thing I realised is, these people don’t actually know who I am and they don’t know the true me.

“I could be the most perfect person and people will still find an issue with it.”

Ms Evren revealed she had struggled with mental health issues in the past and had experienced “hate” on Instagram and Twitter.

“I feel like TikTok is more friendlier because it’s more of a creative platform for videos,” she said.

“No one is used to seeing a lot of personalities on Instagram, so when people started showing that, particularly me … I did get a lot of hate on it at first.

“But I feel like Instagram is slowly starting to clean their act up.

“I think the worst platform to be on is Twitter.

“Everyone goes absolutely crazy on Twitter.

“People just say what they want, say what they feel and they think it’s funny – but the truth is, people’s emotions are not something to joke about.”

Information leaked to the Wall Street Journalist last month revealed Facebook was aware of internal research which suggested its Instagram app made body image issues worse for teenage girls.

The research of company staffers repeatedly found it was harmful for a large proportion, and particularly teenage girls.

Ms Evren said she had battled mental health issues in the past and most recently after leaving the Love Island villa.

“I’ve had days where I was just low and crying to my mum on the phone because I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m going to be able to walk out these doors and have people hate me just for being on a show’,” she said.

The influencer wants to use what she’s learned since leaving Love Island to help others by travelling around Australia to present mind and body workshops.

Gold Coast contestant Zoe Clish reveals shock dating habit - October 25

A NEW Gold Coast contestant set to enter the Love Island villa on Monday night’s episode has revealed “scary-looking tattooed men” are her type.

Zoe Clish is the latest bomb set to shake things up on the island and has her heart set on finding her “prince charming”.

The warehouse worker hasn’t had much dating success in the past, revealing she always breaks up with the men she’s dating, never the other way around.

The “hilarious and unapologetic party girl” is looking for a man with muscles.

“I find I go for big beefy scary-looking tattooed men, who in the end I don’t really click with,” the 25 year old said.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how I go with so many big personalities in the room but I’m sure I will hold my own.”

The reality dating show follows a group of singles trying to find their perfect match in a luxurious Byron Bay villa.

Love Island Australia airs Monday at 8.45pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Coast’s new Love Island contestant looking for a ‘daddy’ - October 13

A GOLD Coast Love Island contestant has revealed she’s looking for a “daddy”, while another hailing from the Glitter Strip says most guys who try to date her “aren’t really up to (her) standards”.

Monday night’s episode of the reality TV dating show revealed two new Gold Coast singles ready to find love – web content publisher Ari Kumar and nursing student Courtney Stubbs.

They join fellow Coasters introduced last week – riot squad officer Chris Graudins and pilates instructor Rachael Evren.

After a year of lockdowns and dating dry spells, the show follows a group of ridiculously good looking singles trying to find their perfect match in a luxurious Byron Bay villa.

Ms Kumar initially coupled up with Taku who she referred to as a “daddy” during the first episode, but later recoupled with Ryan.

She describes herself as an independent woman and has been single for the past six years.

“I’ve been out of the dating scene for a very long time,” the 25 year old said.

“I thought this would be a good way to get myself out there because I don’t do the whole online dating world these days either.”

Ms Stubbs is a bubbly extrovert who is searching for a funny, family man who she can have intellectual conversations with.

She coupled up with male model Aaron during the first episode.

“I’m not tooting my own horn, but guys come up to me and I can find guys,” the 23-year-old said.

“But the guys that try and date me, they aren’t really up to my standards.”

Love Island continues tomorrow night on Channel 9 after The Block.

Meet Gold Coast’s Love Island Australia contestants – October 6

A RIOT squad officer and a pilates instructor are two fun and flirty singles from the Gold Coast ready to shake things up on Love Island Australia.

Sophie Monk returns to host her third series of the hit reality show premiering on Monday, October 11 and filmed west of Byron Bay.

After a year of lockdowns and dating dry spells, the show follows a group of ridiculously good looking singles trying to find their perfect match in a luxurious villa.

Two Gold Coasters ready to find love on the show are riot squad officer Chris Graudins and pilates instructor Rachael Evren.

Mr Graudins, who used to work as a stripper, spent four years in the army based in Townsville and now calls the Gold Coast home.

The former Australian national champion swimmer in the 100m and 200m butterfly wants to find a girl who also takes her fitness seriously.

His last relationship ended in 2018 when he was on a cruise in Vanuatu and had to be airlifted to Australia to get his appendix out.

His tagline on the show is: “Being good looking is a curse. Watch out ladies, it’s game on.”

The riot squad officer is looking for someone loyal and romantic with a sense of humour, but has struggled to find a connection with women on the Glitter Strip.

“When you go out and talk to people, especially on the Gold Coast, it’s immediately based on looks,” Mr Graudins said.

“When I speak to girls, they automatically put their guard up because they think I’m arrogant. “I am already on the back foot defending myself and tell them I just want to have a conversation.”

Fellow Coast contestant Rachael Evren teaches pilates and describes herself as an “old soul and a nerd at heart”.

“I love Star Wars movies, Lego, and I love going to bookstores,” the former beauty pageant queen said.

“I’m not someone who sleeps around and goes to bars all the time.”

With 266,000 followers on Tik Tok and 26,000 on Instagram, Ms Evren says she often gets judged by the way she looks, before guys realise she is a kind soul.

She is looking for a nice, decent guy – something she has struggled to find in the past.

“I find that is more so on the Gold Coast. The boys are looking for one thing. I need someone

who is on the same wavelength as me,” Ms Evren said.

Love Island Australia series three premieres on Monday, October 11 at 8.45pm on Channel 9 and 9 Now.
