Gold Coast’s Sophie Monk has escaped a swaying highrise during the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Thailand saying “I have never experienced anything like this”.
The TV and radio identity was in a tower in Bangkok when the fatal quake hit calling it “the scariest ever earthquake on the 52nd floor”.
“It was going side to side to side, the building. Like we were climbing side to side on our tummies,” she posted to Instagram.
“I’ve never, it was so full on. And we ran down the emergency stairs and made it out but woah that’ll get your heart racing and um I came out with no shoes so a lady has let me have her shoes what a legend.
“Anyway I hope everyone’s okay. It was so hectic. I think it was a 7.5 or something earthquake, I don’t know what that means. I don’t want to be in that sucker again.”
It is estimated the devastating shake which also hit Myanmar will claim thousands of lives with buildings having collapsed.
The quake hit on Friday and pleas are being made for international aid.
