THE team behind Finn Poke at Burleigh say they are egg-stactic to be launching a new venue in the heart of the bustling precinct.

Opening on Wednesday, Two Yolks will hero breakfast burgers – all topped with oozing organic yolks – and smashed burgers famous in the US, all made in-house.

Dripped in a vibrant orange decor, founder Jem Jacinto said the eye-catching venue emulated an American diner feel but with a modern twist.

“Our interior is quite special and insta-worthy with Venetian plastered walls and a speciality handcrafted dining bar,” Ms Jacinto explained.

“You can dine on the 10-metre-long bar in front of the open kitchen. We also have a couple of real cool private booths in the back of the restaurant, also lots of outdoor seating.”

The team will be joined in good company at its Connor Street home, with Freddy’s Chicken Shop – a new venture by the Burleigh Pavilion team – now under construction.

“All our ingredients are not your standard food service ingredients; we have gone the extra mile and then some to source the very best,” Ms Jacinto said.

“We will have our own squeezed and pressed fresh juices, along with beverages made in-house. We’ll also be serving up some great coffee from a roaster in Melbourne and making our own cold brew in-house.”

Two Yolks, located at 13 Connor St, Burleigh, will operate seven days from 6am to 2.30pm.

‘CAN’T BEAT IT’: NEW CAFE SET TO DELIGHT COFFEE FANATICS

THE co-founder of a popular Burleigh gym is trading in his workout gear and heavy weights for a barista’s apron and coffee machine.

Anthony Bartolo, one half of ACTV, this week launched his latest venture, new cafe Magnolia Lane, alongside good friend and business partner Mitch Ryan.

Despite an unexpected snap lockdown, the duo pushed on with opening and have been busy dishing out takeaway meals and coffee to café-goers.

“My emotions (about lockdown) were that we just need to find a way to pivot and to adjust. Being agile in business is something both me and Mitch are good at,” Mr Bartolo said.

“We had to change to a complete takeaway menu pretty much immediately, but while also still trying to bring people through the door, which is a tough thing.”

Victorian-born Mr Ryan revealed the pair became good friends while he was training at Mr Bartolo’s gym – co-owned by champion ironman Ali Day – more than two years ago.

“It just felt like we had a lot of ideas that aligned, and we were looking for the opportunity to do something together,” he said.

“When this space became available, we figured it worked with what we wanted to do. It’s close to the beach and close to a lot of things happening in Burleigh.”

Next door, the boys will also launch new southeast Asian-inspired restaurant KAMI: “It’ll be a casual eatery, food street-style stuff but in a licensed venue. That’ll be ready in about five-six weeks.”

The site – located at the corner of Gold Coast Highway and First Avenue – was long held by a real estate agent who only recently vacated, but Mr Bartolo said he always envisioned opening a business there.

“I’ve been driving past this space for 10 years and I said every time I had driven past that I could make this space work. When Mitch said this was the space, it was a little bit ironic.”
