Winterbottom - a motorsports veteran and Team 18 driver in this year’s race - said his first-hand experience with breast cancer had made supporting the cause all the more important to him.

“Wearing a pink helmet for the Gold Coast 500 is very close to my heart,” he said.

“My mum passed away from breast cancer, so I know first-hand how devastating this disease can be.

“That’s why supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation means so much to me, and I’ll be proud to wear this helmet as a tribute to her and everyone else who’s been affected.”

Reigning Gold Coast 500 champion David Reynolds said he hoped the helmets would bring attention to the important cause.

“This initiative ... is incredibly important, and this year it’s even more special because I get to promote the cause with my teammate,” he said.

“This year’s helmet design really stands out with some fun Gold Coast elements, like palm trees, and I think it’s going to turn a few heads.

“I hope it raises a lot of money for such an important cause.”

The helmets are fully equipped with a D2N Radio Kit that connects to a radio in the car, allowing the team to communicate with the driver during the race.

Each helmet also includes a fan that circulates cool air inside, enhancing comfort for the drivers on the track.

Chief franchising operations officer at JAX Tyres & Auto April Harwood said; “We hope to make a lasting impact through the auction of these uniquely crafted helmets, painted by the talented Trent Rogers from 6Star Custom Paint.”

The auction hosted by Lloyds Auctions for these one-of-a-kind helmets is now open online and will conclude at 5pm AEST on Monday, October 28.

All proceeds will go towards breast cancer research to support NBCF’s mission of zero deaths from breast cancer.
