A major road on the northern Gold Coast has reopened hours after a serious crash.
Police reopened Peachey Rd in Yatala at 8.20am on Thursday, more than five hours after a two-car crash at around 3am.
A Gold Coast police spokesman said a four-wheel drive and an SUV collided along the busy road.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and emergency services had to cut a man out of the four-wheel drive after it had rolled.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said they assessed the man who had significant head and leg injuries and took him to Gold Coast University Hospital.
He was the only person injured in the crash.
The police spokesman said officers had closed Peachey Rd between Pearson Rd and Stanmore Rd due to the crash.
A forensic crash unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
