A motorbike rider is fighting for life after colliding with a car while driving through a set of lights at a Gold Coast intersection.

A motorbike rider is fighting for life after colliding with a car while driving through a set of lights at a major Gold Coast intersection.

Emergency services were called to the serious crash at the intersection of Oyster Creek Drive and Bermuda St in Burleigh Heads at around 8.45pm on Wednesday.

A Gold Coast police spokeswoman said a 20-year-old motorbike rider was riding on Oyster Creek Drive over the Pacific Motorway overpass when he went through a set of traffic lights and smashed into a Toyota HiLux.

Paramedics assessed the man who had significant head, pelvic and limb injuries.

He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital, with the High Acuity Response Unit, in life-threatening condition.

A 43-year-old woman who was driving the HiLux sustained minor injuries.

Police have launched an investigation into the collision and the Forensic Crash Unit are urging any witnesses to call 131 444.

Investigations are ongoing.
