Driver flees five-car crash in Miami leaving three people seriously injured

Police are urging a driver who fled the scene of a horrific five-car pile-up in Miami to come forward. Read the details

Three people were seriously injured in a horrific five-car crash at Miami just an hour into the new year.

Police said the driver who caused the crash fled the scene on foot with three other passengers.

A Black AMG Mercedes sedan was travelling southbound along the Gold Coast Highway near the intersection of Kratzmann Ave about 1am when it collided with the rear of a red Mitsubishi Outlander wagon.

The impact of the crash forced this vehicle into the rear of a white Mitsubishi ASX wagon, which then hit two other vehicles.

Police said the driver and three passengers in the Mercedes fled the scene on foot.

Three people in the Outlander were seriously injured and taken to hospital.

Another five people were taken to hospital with minor injuries and paramedics assessed nine others at the scene.

Among the injured was a man in his 30s with a head injury, a woman in her 20s with leg injuries and a woman in her 20s with a head injury.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said they were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

No life-threatening injuries were reported.

Investigators are appealing for the driver and passengers of the Mercedes to come forward.

Anyone with information on the crash is urged to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and has appealed for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision or CCTV of the crash, to come forward.
