Fashionistas can snap up designer label bargains this weekend as some of Gold Coast’s most stylish women cull their wardrobes in support of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) Community Charity.
Event organiser Simone Smith said it was all about upcycling and recycling clothes normally going into landfill.
“I think 27 kilos of clothing is bought by each individual [every year] and 24 kilos are thrown out every year, that’s half a billion kilos of clothes that go into landfill,” Ms Smith said.
“It’s all about recycling and trying to get what we’ve been purchasing over the last however many years and getting it into another home.”
Shoppers can expect new, as-new and preloved items from international fashion houses Chanel, Celine, Gucci, Burberry, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton, plus Australian Designers including Zimmerman, Scanlan and Theodore, Camilla & Marc, Lisa Brown and Annette Daley.
A gold coin donation, for the CWA, will be required to enter and shoppers are asked to don active wear so they can try items on.
The sale is on Sunday from 8am to 12pm at the CWA Hall, 43 Ventura Road, Mermaid Beach.
