Brewed Brewery Paradise Point: What’s happening at once popular bar

It promised a ‘dreamland’ of ‘happy chatter’. But months after it closed for refurbishment, little has happened at the site of a popular former restaurant.

In its heyday it was one of the most popular bars on the northern Gold Coast, regularly packing its large outside deck area with happy customers.

But the site of the former Brewed Brewery at the Salicia Waters promenade in Paradise Point remains empty months after it was closed for refurbishment.

Piles of timber and cushions lie on the floor of the once thriving venue, while the bar has been stripped of fittings, with cables dangling from the ceiling.

Brewed Brewery closed in February shortly after the Bulletin revealed owner Daniel Klaus had been ordered by the Southport Magistrates Court to pay more than $460,000 in fines and compensation to customers of his caravan company.

At the time, the brew-pub announced that it was closing for refurbishment and would soon reopen as the Hooch Pooch Taphouse & Eatery.

A description of the proposed new venue online reads: “The restaurant feels as if I have entered a dreamland, the happy chatter, the fragrances, the ease and natural colours. Welcome to The Hooch Pooch.”

But five months on, rather than being a “dreamland” of “happy chatter”, locals say little has happened at the site, with no word on when it may reopen.
