A Biggera Waters man charged with a string of child sex offences will no longer be required to report to police weekly after he successfully applied to change his bail.

Daniel Kenneth Seymour, 48, is facing 10 charges of indecent treatment of children under 16 as well as other assault charges.

Seymour’s lawyer Nick Westcott of Irish Bentley Lawyers said all of the charges against his client were “fiercely contested”.

The alleged offending, which occurred between 2019 and 2021, involved a number of child complainants and child witnesses, the Southport Magistrates Court was told on Friday.

The 48-year-old’s alleged offending involved physical contact with the thighs, breasts and buttocks of female victims aged between 13 and 15.

Mr Westcott said his client wanted to amend his bail to relax a reporting condition which required Seymour to report to police every Tuesday.

He noted his client’s “impeccable record” in compliance with bail undertakings.

“He has shown a compliance with his bail undertakings over the course of seven years. One of those bail undertakings is rather old, and is in relation to unrelated offending, which isn’t before your honour,” Mr Westcott said.

The Department of Public Prosecutions opposed the bail variation.

Magistrate Dzenita Balic approved the change, noting Seymour had shown significant cooperation in the past.

The change means he will no longer be required to report to police weekly.

Seymour’s case is listed for a directions hearing in July.
