A teenager remains under police guard in a Gold Coast hospital following an alleged pursuit with a stolen car early on Wednesday morning.
Gold Coast police spotted a 2019 BMW X1 allegedly driving dangerously along Pine Ridge Rd in Coombabah at around 3am.

“Police tracked the vehicle, and a Tyre Deflation Device (TDD) was successfully deployed on Brisbane Road around 4am,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

“The vehicle continued for a short distance before it was abandoned near Country Club Dr at Coombabah with the driver fleeing on foot.”

The spokeswoman said they called in the dog squad and in about ten minutes they found a boy who was hiding in Mangroves.

Police arrested the 14-year-old, who was then assessed by paramedics and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for observation.

No charges were laid by 8am on Wednesday morning and investigations were continuing.

The BMW had been reported stolen to police on Monday from a unit on Karri Court, Burleigh Heads.
