The Frank Fopiani medal winner was a deserving one if the numbers are anything to go by.

Electric midfielder-forward Brock Williamson received best-on-ground honours in Leopold’s premiership win against South Barwon, amassing a game-high 19 contested possessions, 23 disposals, nine score involvements, six tackles, six clearances, a goal and 127 Premier Data ranking points.

Williamson was the second ranked player on the ground, narrowly behind Logan Wagener’s 130-point total, another huge grand final display after winning the medal in the 2023 decider. The relentless midfielder finished with 32 disposals, 16 contested possessions and 130 points.

Both would have been worthy winners, but Williamson always has more impact than the stats suggest, with his blistering run and damaging ball-use giving the Swans constant headaches.

South Barwon and Geelong VFL player Todd White was the only Swan to register more than 90 ranking points compared to Leopold’s seven.

White had 22 possessions, eight one-percenters, seven inside 50s, six clearances and 122 points.

Leopold took 40 more marks and had 63 more disposals than South Barwon, but the Swans actually had the upper hand in the territory battle and at the source.

South Barwon won the clearances 43-37 and inside 50s 52-44 but couldn’t make it count on the scoreboard, with Leopold’s rock-solid defence standing tall.

Harris Jennings led the way putting on 11 one-percenters to go with 14 touches and 112 points, halfback speedster Mitch Burgess tallied 23 disposals, eight intercepts and 112 points and forward turned Will Sheahan also impressed with 18 disposals, 11 marks — three of those intercepts — six rebound 50s and 95 points.

Tevan Nofi also had a game-high 12 one-percenters and took three intercept marks.

Ball-winner Ollie Tate (26 disposals, 12 marks and 107 points) and skipper Marcus Thompson (21 disposals, 13 contested possessions, six clearances, a goal and 90 points also played their part.

Up forward Jake Pitt had a big influence after missing last year’s premiership, finishing with an equal game-high 10 score involvements, 21 disposals, a goal and 104 points.

Mathieson medallist Doyle Madigan had 17 possessions, eight clearances, six tackles and 90 points and Fraser Fort was well held for most of the game but still managed to tally 14 disposals, 14 contested possessions, two goals and 89 points.

Dylan Starkie gathered 23 possessions and eight rebound 50s for 87 points in defence, while Jack Driver clunked three intercept marks to go with 12 touches, a goal and 88 points.
