Simpkin was well supported by Bailey Scott, who amassed a round-high 44 disposals, 10 inside 50s and a goal, and Zachary Zdybel (25 disposals, five clearances and a goal).

Seagulls ball-winners Connor Walmsley (38 disposals, eight clearances) and Sam Witherden (31 disposals, seven inside 50s) fought hard in the loss.

Like Simpkin, South Barwon’s Jonty Broughton was able to provide immense impact up forward and win plenty of the footy, finishing with 22 disposals, 14 contested possessions and 4.3 in his side’s 36-point win over Lara.

Swans inside midfielder Lachlan Middleton won a whopping 21 of his 26 possessions in a contest to go with eight clearances.

There were no shortage of quality performers in Geelong West’s upset win against Newton & Chillwell, with Werribee VFL midfielder Emmanuel Ajang kicking two epic goals to go with 27 disposals.

The first was a cracking finish from the impossible angle in the pocket and his second came after a blistering run through the middle before a long launch from 50m.

David Handley had a fantastic all-round game, booting two goals himself and tallying 24 disposals, 10 tackles and six clearances, while ball-magnet Tanner Lovell maintained his status as the disposal king of the GFL with another 29 touches, eight tackles and seven marks.

Despite a comfortable defeat, prolific Eagles Matthew Boag (37 disposals, 26 contested possessions, seven inside 50s) and Matty Lloyd (36 disposals, 20 contested, six clearances) finished the game as the two leading ball-winners, with the pair dominating at coalface.

Leopold had several multiple goalkickers who also had no trouble finding the Sherrin, with Samuel Scott (26 disposals, six clearances, 2.2), Connor Giddings (15 disposals, nine marks, four goals) and Rob Maibaum (19 disposals, 14 contested possessions, three goals) all having a major say.

Will Ford was his Grovedale’s best in their 64-point defeat with 23 touches and two majors.

Continuing the trend from round 12, Bell Park’s four major ball-winners all hit the scoreboard in their 54-point triumph over St Albans.

Jamie Fulton (29 disposals, 17 contested possessions, eight marks, eight tackles and a goal), Jack McMahon (28 disposals, 20 contested possessions, 11 inside 50s, eight marks, eight tackles and a goal), Jack Sarcevic (26 disposals, 10 inside 50s and a goal) and Zac Mirkovic (22 disposals, 12 marks, four contested marks and a goal) ran rampant at St Albans reserve.
