Disposals
Geelong West midfielder Baxter Mensch did his Mathieson Medal chances no harm with a best-on-ground performance against Lara.
The Giant had 41 disposals to lead the competition in round 15, while his teammate Tanner Lovell had 35 touches himself.
Lovell tied St Mary’s star Jarryd Garner on disposals this week, while Newtown & Chilwell’s Blake Sutterby had 34 touches against St Albans.
199-game veteran Jai Thompson had 32 touches for Leopold, tied with Saturday’s opponent and Colac co-coach Darcy Lang.
Sutterby led the competition for contested possessions with 22, while Garner and Thompson each recorded 21 in their respective games.
Marks
Lara key forward Mitch Day was dominant against Geelong West, kicking five goals and taking 10 marks in the loss.
More impressively, eight of his 10 grabs were contested, with the wet and wintry conditions not ideal for a marking target.
South Barwon’s Jack Driver has been in scintillating form down back this season, and he continued against St Mary’s with eight marks and 27 disposals in the wet.
The key defender was second in the competition for marks in the wet round of football, with Bell Park’s Ben Worme and Jamie Fulton tied on seven marks for the round.
Newtown & Chilwell’s Lachlan Waddell also had seven marks, with three of them contested, while there were 13 players who recorded six marks.
Tackles
While they struggled to get on the scoreboard, the Supersaints brought the pressure against Newtown & Chilwell.
Four of the top six tacklers were St Albans players, with Sam Donegan leading the way with 13 in the loss.
St Mary’s skipper Jack Blood had 12 for the round, while South Barwon’s Doyle Madigan recorded 11.
Supersaints trio Jacob Russell, Ben Miller and Dylon Johnston all recorded 10 tackles each.
Hit Outs
South Barwon’s Luke Davis recorded most hit outs of the season so far by any ruck in the loss to St Mary’s.
Davis had 67 hit outs, ahead of Eagles ruck Cameron Wilkinson’s 63-hit out effort in round 10, Giants Tylar Watts’ 62 taps in round 12 and his own 59 taps in round 14.
Leopold’s Trent West had 50 against Colac after recording 47 last week, and Giants Tylar Watts had 44 against Lara.
Goals
Geelong West half forward Phil Moimoi dominated against Lara, kicking seven goals from 21 disposals in the win.
Down the other end of the ground, Cats star Mitch Day slotted five goals straight, behind only Moimoi and Eagles forward Lachlan Bond, who kicked six against St Albans.
Bond’s teammate Waddell kicked 4.3 in the massive win against the Supersaints.
