When Geelong Cats will parade through city

Geelong fans will be able to welcome their heroes home when the Cats parade along the waterfront on Tuesday.
It will mark the next stage of celebration after Sunday’s family fun day being held at St Mary’s oval.
The City of Greater Geelong confirmed it will host a street parade to celebrate the Cats winning the grand final.
Footy fans will be encouraged to come into Geelong and line the parade route to cheer for their heroes and enjoy the family friendly celebrations, with the parade starting at 11am on Tuesday.
Mayor Peter Murrihy said all Cats fans from across Australia would be welcome in Geelong.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for fans to congratulations coach Chris Scott, all the players, their families and support staff,” Cr Murrihy said.
The city is expected to brought to life for the street parade, which will see the Cats players travel by car from Upper Eastern Beach Rd, along Brougham St, down Moorabool St and along Eastern Beach Rd.
The parade will end at Steampacket Gardens at midday with a civic presentation for the players.
The city will also temporarily change the street sign on Moorabool St to ‘Premiership Way’ in celebration of the Cats victory.

“Following the celebrations, you can enjoy fabulous food and drink at cafes, pubs and bars across Geelong.”

Cr Ron Nelson said grand final victory over the Sydney Swans was a long time coming for Cats fans.
“The Cats have been so good for so long, so this victory is a fitting reward for the years of hard work and determination. Our dreams have finally come true, and we’re thrilled to dust off the Premiership Way sign again,” Cr Nelson said.
“Geelong has really bounced back from two challenging years and footy is the sport that brings our whole town together.
“The street parade is a day for the fans but it’s also going to be so important to local businesses across Geelong.”
