Many services across Geelong have changed their hours for the Christmas period. Check out our guide to what’s open and closed in the lead up to the big day.
Trains and coaches
V/Line trains and coaches will operate on a normal timetable on Christmas Eve and a Sunday timetable on Christmas Day.
Additional summer coach services, Apollo Bay and Lorne coach services, will run over the holiday period and on a Sunday timetable on Christmas Day.
All V/Line trains will operate on a Saturday timetable for the Christmas Day public holiday on December 27.
Trains will run to a normal timetable on Christmas Eve, and all travel on public transport across Victoria will be free from 6pm-6am on Sunday, January 1.
Banks
All Commonwealth, NAB, Westpac, Bendigo Bank and ANZ bank branches will be closed on Christmas Day.
Council services
City of Greater Geelong’s landfill and waste services will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Days.
City-run libraries and aquatic centres will be closed on Christmas Day.
Shopping Centres
Westfield Geelong will open earlier and close later in the final countdown to Christmas.
From December 20-22, the complex will trade from 9am-9pm, staying open until 10pm on Friday, December 23.
On Christmas Eve, the centre will be open from 9am-5pm.
Market Square Geelong will be open until 9pm in the lead up to Christmas, from Saturday 8am - 5pm, Boxing Day 8am - 6pm.
Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre will be open from 9am-9pm until December 23, 9am-5pm on Christmas Eve, closed on Christmas Day and open from 10am-5pm on Boxing Day.
Supermarkets:
Coles: All stores will open in Victoria until 10pm Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.
Woolworths: All stores open on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day and open throughout the New Year period.
Aldi: All stores will be open Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day and will reopen Boxing Day with hours varying between stores.
