Executive general manager Leonie Lloyd departs Epworth Geelong

The executive general manager of Epworth Geelong will finish up at the hospital next month.

Epworth Geelong executive general manager Leonie Lloyd will depart the hospital next month after three years in the role.

Ms Lloyd began her career with Epworth in 2012 as a nurse unit manager in charge of the intensive care unit in Richmond.

According to Epworth HealthCare chief operating officer Natasha Toohey, Ms Lloyd was the was the second person employed by Epworth Geelong, long before the hospital opened in 2016.

“I thank Leonie for her wonderful contribution to Epworth and wish her the very best for the future,” Ms Toohey said.

“Recruitment is underway for a new executive general manager.”

It comes days after the Geelong Advertiser reported Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) chief executive Rowena Clift has accepted a new role and will leave the organisation.

She will become dual chief executive of Western District Health Service and Casterton Memorial Hospital and will be based in Hamilton.

Ms Clift will continue at WVPHN until the end of the year and then take up the new position on February 1.

Ms Clift started at WVPHN in June 2016 as director of services and systems integration.

During this time, she also took up a secondment position as acting chief executive officer of Ballan District Health and Care.

She was appointed WVPHN CEO in 2020.

WVPHN board chair Susan Brumby said Ms Clift made a significant contribution to WVPHN.

“Particular highlights were steering the organisation through Covid, which included the setting up of GP respiratory clinics,” Professor Brumby said.

“As CEO she has been a strong advocate for primary health networks more broadly

through her contribution to various external committees and a Voice for rural and regional communities.”

A recruitment process to fill the role will start and an acting chief executive is expected to be announced shortly.
