A well-known Melbourne music producer surprised and delighted a crowd of hundreds at a Torquay gig on Saturday night.
ARIA Award nominee Dom Dolla performed a surprise gig at Torquay Hotel on January 28.
Owner Joel Taylor said the event, organised with Dr Daytime promoter Hudson Watts, was “unbelievable”.
Dom Dolla performed after Torren Foot to a crowd of about 600.
“The audience absolutely went off,” Mr Taylor said.
“(Dom Dolla) has got an incredibly distinctive look so as soon as he came out, they went wild.
“It was an absolutely electric night in there.
“He played for a couple of hours and absolutely brought the house down.
“It was one of the most incredible nights we’ve had at the Torquay pub.
“It was hot, it was sweaty, and it was heaving. It was just an incredible vibe.”
Mr Taylor said the hotel had been working towards an all-year-round music calendar.
He said the end goal was for local people to be able to enjoy great music in their local area.
“It’s about getting great music and DJs in a local venue, and not having to travel to the city,” Mr Taylor said.
“To bring a show like this to our Torquay community, to the coastal community … we’re so lucky.
“We’d love to be able to put on shows that have that amount of energy and that flavour all the time.
“It’s a really special thing to see, and to be able to do it at a local pub at a local level was amazing.”
