Tis’ the season for communities, families and friends to come together and celebrate Christmas and the end of the year.
The Geelong Addy’s Christmas elves have been searching high and low for as many invites to Geelong and Surf Coast events as possible to celebrate throughout December.

Piano Bar owner Andy Pobjoy is hosting a New Year’s Eve event and said he was most looking forward to an intimate, personal experience to ring in 2025.
“It’s a chance to reflect on the year that’s been, celebrate with friends, and enjoy live music in a truly unique atmosphere,” he said.
“The festive season in Geelong is such an exciting time.
“The city comes alive with shoppers, partygoers, and revellers.
“With the warm weather, it’s the perfect time to visit central Geelong — see the stunning floating Christmas tree, enjoy a fabulous dinner in the Little Malop/West End Precinct, and then head into Piano Bar for a night of dancing and your favourite songs by request.”
Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said Christmas was a special time in Greater Geelong to celebrate, spend time with loved ones and help out those who are facing challenges.
“There are so many highlights this festive season, from this Saturday’s Christmas Opening Night – Denis Walter Carols by the Bay event and our nightly Floating Christmas tree shows, to our City Hall projections inspired by local kindergarteners and the dozens of community events on the calendar,” he said.
“We have Australia’s largest floating tree and it’s a significant visitor drawcard and economic driver for our region, attracting visitors from across the state who then support our hospitality, accommodation and tourism sectors.
“There’s something for everyone in this year’s Christmas in Geelong program.”
Surf Coast mayor Mike Bodsworth said the council was encouraging people to shop local and participate in community events and activities across the festive season.
“Surf Coast Shire council is supporting shop-local events in Torquay and Anglesea with the
Share the Surf Coast Spirit campaign,” he said.
