Bandidos charged over alleged Geelong assault

The identities of three Bandidos who were arrested following a brutal alleged attack at a Geelong venue have been revealed.

The trio fronted court on Wednesday evening.

Special detectives swooped on three homes in Ballarat and Melbourne on Wednesday in relation to an alleged assault at a James St premises last month.

One man was allegedly knocked unconscious and another bitten on the cheek, police said.

Echo Taskforce officers arrested 29-year-old Winter Valley man Matthew Rizzo, 44-year-old Maribyrnong man Marty Albert and 41-year-old Pascoe Vale man Toby Elvey on Wednesday morning.

The former two are believed to be chapter sergeant at arms of the feared outlaw gang, and the latter a president.

Police will allege the attack on two men, 38 and a 42, was unprovoked and the parties not known to each other.

Both suffered serious head and facial injuries following the incident, alleged to have occurred after midnight on October 22.

James St, in Geelong’s CBD, is home to three popular night spots.

Detectives allegedly seized a samurai sword, cannabis, and a Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang vest from the Ballarat property.

A fake hand gun, two Bandidos vests and methylamphetamine were taken from the Melbourne homes.

Mr Elvey was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, affray, dishonestly receiving retention of stolen goods and handling stolen goods.

Mr Albert was charged with assault without lawful excuse, affray and possession of methamphetamine.

Mr Rizzo was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, assault without lawful excuse, affray, possession of a samurai sword, taser, and possession of cannabis.

It comes after a Geelong man, alleged to be a member of the Coffin Cheaters bikie gang, was arrested last month.

The 31-year-old, from Armstrong Creek, will face threats and assault charges following a joint investigation involving the Echo Taskforce, Special Operations Group, Dog Squad and VIPER Taskforce.

Mr Albert and Mr Elvey made bail and will next appear in the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on February 13.

Mr Rizzo did not make an application for bail and will next appear in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on November 30.
