A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly got drunk and smashed into a bedroom in Highton on Saturday morning.
It’s alleged a blue Ford crashed into a front bedroom of a Grantham Drive house about 3am.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Leading Senior Constable Jody Clayton said the five occupants inside the house at the time were unharmed.
“The house sustained significant structural damage,” she said.
“The driver of the Ford and sole occupant was assessed by paramedics at the scene.
“A 19-year-old Highton man underwent a roadside breath test and later returned an alleged evidentiary result of .156.”
“He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic offences.”
Neighbours to the crash who spoke to the Addy said the family had a lucky escape.
Bricks from the exterior wall of the house were sent flying into an interior wall of the bedroom on the opposite side, leaving holes in the plasterboard.
One woman who lived on the street said she was woken by the crash said she was glad nobody was injured in the incident.
“It was so loud,” she said.
The woman said nothing like this had happened before along the street.
The Grantham Drive incident was the first of two incidents involving cars crashing into buildings in less than an hour on Saturday morning.
At 3.46am emergency services, including some at the scene in Highton, raced to Norlane after a car was driven into a shop and set alight on Donnybrook Rd.
On Friday, a car crashed into a veranda on Michigan Ave in Corio at 8am.
More to come.
