A quiet night on the Bellarine took a turn for one woman after she was interrupted with the news she was now $400k better off.
A St Leonards woman was watching a movie on Saturday night when the weekend’s lottery numbers were drawn.
She soon realised she was in luck.
“We’ve been playing those numbers for a long time,” she said.
“They’re a mix of our family birthdays and favourite football players’ numbers.
“I thought I recognised about five of them and said, ‘I think they’re our numbers’.”
But the lucky woman still checked the ticket “about 50 times”.
“It will certainly help us out – it will help square the mortgage away, it’s a good amount to win. such great news.
“Now that I know it’s real, I don’t have to keep checking the ticket.”
She purchased her ticket locally at St Leonards News on Murradoc Rd.
Owner Dale Hanco said it was the first time the outlet had sold a division one winning ticket.
“For our winner, we hope that your win makes your life easier and happier,” he said.
“We thank you for letting us share in your happy moment.
“Thank you to all the community that put so much support behind us getting this outlet in the town four years ago and have continued to support us.”
The woman was one of four Victorians who scored $401,209.07, with a mystery Braybrook player still yet to come forward.
