A Corio man has been arrested over a terrifying carjacking in central Geelong that left a man with severe injuries, as detectives hunt for two more offenders.

Bannockburn Uber driver Dean Lehmann was hospitalised for three days following the ordeal on Fitzroy St, when two men are alleged to have stolen his blue Renault Captur at Pevensey Park.

He attempted to hold on to the driver’s side door as the offenders fled, leaving him with a “golf ball-sized hole” in his left leg and his skin “scraped through to the bone”.

Investigators arrested a 20-year-old on Monday and are understood to be looking for two more men in relation to a spate of crimes.

The Corio man was charged with an array of offences including theft of motor vehicle, handling stolen goods, burglary and theft.

He has been bailed to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on October 18.

Two further offenders are still outstanding and the investigation remains ongoing,” a police spokeswoman said.

Mr Lehmann’s car was allegedly used in a number of crimes in the ensuing days following the ordeal.

It was captured on CCTV in multiple locations, including at an APCO service station in Lara where it is alleged stolen credit cards were used.

A number of other items were allegedly stolen from homes and cars in the same suburb on August 10 including cards, laptops, purses, cash and keys.

Mr Lehmann, 51, said he was glad an arrest had been made.

“I just hope the others are caught,” he said.

“Dealing with the police, being dragged across the road and in hospital, and then being on the front page of the Addy and having television crews at my door... it has been an experience.”

It’s understood the alleged driver of the stolen car remains at large.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam/CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
