A stalker who was dumped by a woman from Lara he met on dating app Plenty of Fish has fronted court for his “bizarre” offending.

Peter Antonopoulos, 40, was in a short relationship with the woman and after being dumped by text message in April this year, smashed the woman’s iPad, used lubricant to damage her switchboard and contacted her several times on different phones.

Magistrate John Bentley described the offending as “bizarre”.

“This sounds like some Netflix horror movie. The male version of fatal attraction,” Mr Bentley said.

“There’s a sort of fixation that has occurred there,” he said.

Antonopoulos, of Cranbourne, pleaded guilty in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Wednesday to stalking, burglary, theft, and intentionally damaging property.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Kerrie-Ann Moroney said Antonopoulos used several mobile phones to contact the victim after the relationship ended.

The court heard Antonopoulos sent a series of text messages to the victim and also attempted to call her numerous times, ignoring her request for him to leave her alone.

After he was blocked by the victim, Antonopoulos began to send messages from another number. The court heard this occurred on a number of occasions.

The day after the relationship ended, Antonopoulos went to the victim's home and was seen on CCTV picking up the woman's cat and putting it into his car.

The court heard Antonopoulos had parked outside the victim’s home in Lara on 12 occasions between April 27 and April 28.

Constable Maroney said Antonopoulos broke into the woman’s home in the early hours of the morning on April 28 and stole a laptop and a mobile phone.

Constable Maroney also said Antonopoulos smashed the victim’s iPad and scratched her Mercedes Benz.

The court also heard Antonopoulos used lubricant from the victim's bedroom drawer and sprayed it on her switchboard.

Antonopoulos was interviewed by police on May 23 over the incidents, but made no comment.

Antonopoulos’ lawyer said his client’s offending occurred over a short period of time.

The matter will return to court next Monday.
