A Moolap mum and her 11-year-old daughter almost missed out on Taylor Swift’s Melbourne concert on Saturday night after a “ghost” ticket transaction.

Amanda Davies bought two tickets as a birthday present for her daughter, Ella, from Ticketek Marketplace in November.

She didn’t receive an email confirming her purchase but the tickets appeared in her Ticketek account.

But on Thursday afternoon, she opened her Ticketek account and the tickets had disappeared.

“My heart went into my stomach,” she said.

“Thursday night I didn’t sleep at all.

“The thought of having to tell Ella, who has been listening to Taylor Swift every day, was really difficult.”

Mrs Davies had screenshots of her tickets to prove there were in her account but feared they had been reallocated.

She reached out to Ticketek multiple times via email and social media on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning in the hope the tickets could be returned.

“On Friday afternoon, they said there wasn’t anything they could do,” Mrs Davies said.

“They knew I had evidence of the tickets in my wallet so they told me to go to the MCG box office on Saturday.”

Mrs Davies and Ella had a “nerve-racking” wait of more than two hours at the box office.

A Ticketek employee said a “ghost” transaction had led to the tickets being bought by Mrs Davies and another concertgoer.

“Myself and someone else got the tickets at exactly the same time,” Mrs Davies said.

“We put our name and credit card details in at exactly the same time.

“It’s a freak thing.”

The employee said she would try and find them new tickets.

“I secretly told them to give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down because I wanted to break the news to Ella myself (if they couldn’t find us other tickets).

“But she gave me the thumbs up.

“We were screaming and cheering.

“I would deal with three days of stress all over again just to see my daughter’s face when Taylor come onstage.”

Mrs Davies said the concert was “incredible”

When Swift came on stage, they both burst into tears.

“The concert exceeded all of our expectations,” Mrs Davies said.

Ella has been a Swift fan for about two years and her favourite songs are ‘Picture to Burn’ and ‘Delicate’.
