UPDATE: A man allegedly involved in a shocking Geelong shooting has been placed under police guard in hospital following his arrest.
Armed Crime Squad detectives apprehended the man at a Grovedale address on Monday for questioning over the non-fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man in Whittington on March 22.
Victoria Police confirmed the man has since been admitted to the Geelong hospital and is under police surveillance.
It’s believed charges are yet to be laid.
EARLIER: Police have arrested a man in Grovedale in relation to a shooting in Whittington last week.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said detectives from Victoria Police’s Armed Crime Squad made the arrest on Monday afternoon.
“A man was arrested on Hollows Court in Grovedale just after 3.30pm today and is currently being interviewed,” the spokeswoman said.
Emergency services were called to Freesia Court after a man was shot around 5.40pm on Wednesday, March 22.
A 55-year-old Whittington man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Prior to the arrest, detectives from the Armed Crime Squad said they believed it to be a targeted attack and the parties involved were known to each other.
Previously, a Barwon Health spokeswoman said the man was in stable condition on Wednesday evening.
