A pet peacock has been found after going missing from his Inverleigh home sparking a desperate search.

Kevin the peacock’s owner Donna Abrahams said she found him about 8am on Wednesday morning after hearing his calls.

“He was probably a good 10km away down the road,” Ms Abrahams said.

“We were driving down the road and I saw his tail out of the corner of my eye, that’s how I spotted him.

“He is very dehydrated, very miscoloured, very lethargic and has no voice.”

Ms Abrahams confirmed that Kevin had been locked up with his “girlfriend” Priscilla until a GPS was sourced for him.

On Tuesday, Ms Abrahams said her peacock, Kevin was missing, having last been sighted Sunday morning.

“My husband was up at 4.30am and he saw him sleeping on the roof,” she said.

“I was up at 6.30am … normally every morning I hear him, he is very vocal.

“But I didn’t hear him and I thought that was odd.”

Mrs Abrahams said she “panicked” when she realised her five-year-old peacock was missing and his disappearance was unusual.

“He has just vanished,” she said.

Mrs Abrahams said there was no sign Kevin was taken by a fox, as there were no feathers around her property, and he hadn’t gone looking for a mate.

Kevin already has a mate, Priscilla, who has started to lay eggs.

“She is now crying out for him,” she said.

“We’ve looked everywhere.

“We drove around our paddocks and over to the next town (Shelford) and there was no sign of him.

“I’ve contacted all my neighbours and they haven’t seen him.”

Mrs Abrahams, who works as a psychic, has owned Kevin since he was a baby and said he was very special to her.

“He isn’t just a peacock,” she said.

“He was a gift from my mum and she passed away three years ago.

“He is very tame, he eats out of my hand.”

Kevin usually resides in the Mahers and Gallagher roads area in Inverleigh but Mrs Abrahams said he may have wandered off or flown away and been picked up by someone.
