Geelong’s best hairdresser for 2024 revealed, voted by locals

Hundreds of votes were cast, and the best hairdresser in Geelong for 2024 has been found.
The Geelong Advertiser put the call out for community nominations, with more than 60 experts from across the Geelong and Surf Coast region put up for the top spot.
Over the course of a week, readers were invited to cast their vote, with 576 received.
Kate Ruiter from Salon V’Darra in Drumcondra was voted the best hairdresser in Geelong.
Ms Ruiter, who’s been a hairdresser for six years, garnered 15 per cent of the vote, or 95 votes.
Ms Ruiter said she was excited and honoured to be voted the winner.
She said it was unexpected and “so nice” to be recognised.
“My favourite part of being a hairdresser is making everyone feel beautiful,” she said.
“I’ve been at (Salon V’Darra) for six years – I started my apprenticeship here … I absolutely love it so much.”
Ms Ruiter said she enjoyed treating all types of hair.
She said “it means you can do everyone”.
Ms Ruiter said her top tips for keeping hair healthy and looking great included getting regular hair cuts, doing a consistent conditioning treatment, and avoiding too much heat damage.

2. After nominations close we open the voting stage on our website. The businesses or individuals that received the highest number of nominations will progress to the voting stage. The voting stage runs for one week.
3. Once voting has closed a winner will be announced on our website usually a few days after the voting stage concludes. At the same time we will also announce up to nine other businesses with the highest amount of votes in the poll.
