The Geelong-born founder of a multimillion beauty brand, which is on track to hit a mega revenue milestone, says she is excited to move her family back to her hometown.
Coco and Eve founder Emily Hamilton left Geelong in 1996 to move to Melbourne and then Singapore, where she has lived for 14 years.
Her vegan and cruelty-free business sells hair, self-tan and body care products and is sold globally in major retailers including Sephora, Ulta, Adore Beauty and Myer.
The brand, which was launched in 2018, is set to exceed $120m in revenue for the 2024 calendar year.
The record-breaking sales target, which is a year-on-year growth of 35 per cent, comes as a US private equity firm Gauge Capital acquired a majority stake in the business.
“We are thrilled that just six years after founding Coco and Eve, we have secured this
partnership deal … to take the brand to the next level and ensure its enduring success,” Ms Hamilton said.
She will continue working with the brand in product development and marketing.
Ms Hamilton said she was hoping to move back to Geelong with her husband so their two kids, in grade four and six, could start high school in the region.
“I’ve wanted to come back for a while but we’ve been quite busy,” she said.
“We’re looking for a bit of a slower pace.
“My family still lives there so it was always on the cards.”
Ms Hamilton encouraged everyone to explore starting their own business.
“Once you find an area you love, work and learn there and see what opportunities you find,” she said.
“If you see a chance to build your own business, that is definitely something you should explore.”
Ms Hamilton said the beauty industry was a “very competitive” market these days however consumers were always willing to try something new.
“You can really create something new with fresh eyes and a fresh perspective,” she said.
