The winner of a huge monthly cash payout has finally claimed their prize after a citywide search.

The mystery winner of the national $4.8 million Set for Life lottery has been found in Geelong.

The woman, who only buys lottery tickets for special occasions, discovered on Thursday that she had the February 9 division one winning entry.

She will receive $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

Speaking with an official from The Lott, the woman said she was “blown away” to have won.

“I’ve only bought a handful of lottery tickets in my life, so I never expected this,” she said.

“When I checked this ticket, I actually thought I’d won division two.

“But then I realised I’d crossed all the numbers off and I started trembling.”

The woman said it was “amazing” to be set for life, however that celebrations would have to wait.

“Unfortunately, I still have to cook dinner for my family and do all my other chores today so there won’t be too much celebrating,” she said.

“But I’ve got some nice pear ciders in the fridge so I might have a few of them.

“I might even go away for a big celebratory weekend soon.”

She said the prize money would allow her to be comfortable in her life.

“I definitely want to use the prize to help my family and I’d like to do some travelling overseas and around the country,” the woman said.

“It’ll allow me to plan for the future and relax a little.

“It’s a dream come true!”

The woman purchased the entry at Market Square Lotto in Geelong’s CBD.

An unaware millionaire in Geelong is yet to claim their prize almost a week after winning the Lott’s $4.8m ‘Set for Life’ draw – to be paid in monthly instalments of $20,000 for the next 20 years.

The sole Division One winning ticket was sold from Market Square Lotto in Geelong’s CBD, with the unregistered player still yet to claim their major prize on Monday, The Lott officials confirmed.

The ‘Set for Life’ draw was held on February 9, with the oblivious millionaire sitting on a piece of paper worth $4.8 million paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

Market Square Lotto owner Greg Keating last week called on all of his customers to check and double check their tickets to the draw.

“This is so exciting,” Mr Keating said. “We’re over the moon to have sold a division one winning entry in Set for Life.”

“We can just imagine how much joy the prize will give to the mystery winner. They’ll be able to help their family and friends immensely.”

The Lott spokeswoman Anna Hobdell said she couldn’t wait to unite the Victorian’s latest division one winner with their prize.

“Imagine how exciting it would be to realise you’ve just won Set for Life. Your plans for the next 20 years would certainly change with those extra digits in your bank account,” she said.

“Make sure you check your ticket, which could be in your wallet, handbag, fridge door or car glove box. The winner could be you, and you could be planning what to do with your prize!

“If you discover you are holding the winning ticket, contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

Mystery Geelong lotto winner strikes $4.8m jackpot

A mystery ticket holder has won $4.8m in Wednesday night’s Set for Life draw with an entry purchased at Market Square.

The elusive winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 2379 and took home the prize of $4.8m paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

However, the winning entry is unregistered, which means officials from The Lott have no way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news.

Instead, they must wait for the ticketholder to come forward to claim their prize.

The winning entry was purchased at Market Square Lotto, Kiosk 3, The Plaza Market Square at the corner of Malop and Moorabool streets.

Market Square Lotto owner Greg Keating said he hoped his mystery winner checked their entry and discovered their prize soon.

“This is so exciting,” he said.

“We’re over the moon to have sold a division one winning entry in Set for Life.

“We can just imagine how much joy the prize will give to the mystery winner.

“They’ll be able to help their family and friends immensely.”

Mr Keating encouraged all customers who purchased an entry into Wednesday night’s Set for Life draw to come check their tickets.

The Lott spokeswoman Anna Hobdell said she couldn’t wait to unite Victoria’s latest division one winner with their prize.

“We’re urging all players who purchased a Set for Life ticket from Market Square Lotto to check their tickets today,” she said.

“Imagine how exciting it would be to realise you’ve just won Set for Life.

“Your plans for the next 20 years would certainly change with those extra digits in your bank account.

“Make sure you check your ticket, which could be in your wallet, handbag, fridge door or car glove box.

“The winner could be you, and you could be planning what to do with your prize.”

She said the person holding the winning ticket, should contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming their prize.

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2379 on Wednesday were 11, 26, 33, 7, 44, 8 and 28, while the supplementary numbers were 34 and 12.

The win comes just days after a Geelong man earned a $1.1m payday from a weekend lotto draw — having initially declined the call telling him of the win because of a shower-related incident.
