A Drysdale man has fronted court after police found a cannabis crop growing at his house.
Officers were called to a shop on Hancock St about 5pm on Thursday after reports a 48-year-old man was seen with what appeared to be a firearm, police said.
Police said no threats were made.
The man, Adam Przybylkiewicz, left the store and the Geelong Magistrates Court court was told that upon searching his home nearby on Elgin St, police located three cannabis plants.
Police prosecutor, Leading Senior Constable Kylie Jane, on Friday told the court police used sniffer dogs during the search for a handgun.
Przybylkiewicz pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis, and a charge of cannabis possession was withdrawn.
His lawyer, Ryan Robertson, told the court that Przybylkiewicz was currently serving a community corrections order that was “very much in its infancy”.
Mr Robertson said the cannabis growing was “not a particularly sophisticated set up”.
Magistrate John Bentley convicted Przybylkiewicz and fined him $150.
