Driver dies at scene of Balliang crash

A motorist has died at the scene of a serious collision north of Geelong, with specialist police now probing the cause.

A driver has died after a ute and car collided at a Balliang intersection on Monday morning.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives say the vehicles collided along Reddens Rd, at the intersection of Bacchus Marsh – Balliang Rd, just before 6am.

The driver was the sole occupant of the car and died at the scene.

The person is yet to be formally identified.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Nikki Ladgrove said the driver of the utility was taken to hospital for observation and is assisting police with inquiries.

Detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
