A woman has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a car while riding a bike in Geelong on Tuesday morning.

Witness Wade Pearce said the cyclist was thrown onto the car’s windscreen and was clearly in a lot of pain.

Police are investigating the incident.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Senior Constable Emma Faliszewski said it was believed the female rider was travelling along Kilgour Street when she was hit by a Ford Focus sedan about 8.35am.

“The female rider, a 31-year-old Highton woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” she said.

“The driver of the Ford, an 18-year-old Curlewis man, stopped and assisted at the scene.”

A woman in her 30s was taken to Geelong hospital in a stable condition with upper and lower body injuries, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.

Mr Pearce said school kids witnessed the incident, near the corner of Gheringhap St, and described the scene as “mayhem”.
