A man went on a rampage in a Chemist Warehouse store after he came 30 days too early to have his script filled.
Brett Lamont, 59, fronted Geelong Magistrates Court on Thursday after he was charged with unlawful assault.
On October 31 last year, Lamont went to fill a script at the Corio Village Chemist Warehouse.
The pharmacist refused to give him the medication because he had come to the chemist 30 days too early.
Lamont flew into a rage, yelling at the pharmacist and other chemist employees.
A female employee who was stacking shelves called security and then walked over to the pharmacist to help.
Lamont, a Corio resident, ran towards the employee with his fist raised while yelling at her.
She stood her ground until he got less than 1m away and then ducked out of the way to protect herself.
Lamont, still furious, left the store still hurling abuse at the employees.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
Employees reported the incident to police with footage.
During his police interview Lamont said he “lost his temper”.
Lamont told police a pharmacist wrote a happy face on his script when she couldn’t fill it.
He accepted the employees would have been terrified by his rage.
Lamont, who is currently unemployed, pleaded guilty to the assault charge.
The court heard he wrote an apology to the chemist staff and he now fills his scripts at a different chemist.
Magistrate Urfa Masood said the abuse hurled at store employees after the pandemic was concerning.
“These people are just trying to do their jobs, they do not deserve this,” she said.
Lamont was sentenced to a nine month good behaviour bond with conviction.
He was also ordered to make a $250 donation to the court fund.
