An Aireys Inlet woman made a “spontaneous” decision in her quest to find love and walked down the aisle to marry a stranger.

Lucinda Light saw an advertisement for Channel 9’s popular reality TV series Married At First Sight on social media and applied straight away.

“I don’t watch television but I had heard about the show so I applied right there on the spot,” she said.

“I thought it would go nowhere but lo and behold.”

The 43-year-old, who lives between the Surf Coast and Byron Bay, owns Soulful Speed Dating and is also a wedding celebrant and MC.

Ms Light started the business in 2020 after feeling “very single”.

“I was feeling very disenchanted and I wanted a cool space for singles to get together,” she said.

“I wanted to reinvent speed dating.

“I loved the concept but I found them quite dry so I turned the model inside out.”

Ms Light has had a “very colourful and fruitful relationship past”.

“But now, I’m at the age where I am ready to find a life partner,” she said.

Ms Light was looking to find a partner who was funny, authentic and down to earth.

“I want someone who is passionate about their path and knows what they are doing in the world,” she said.

“Someone that enjoys being people, loves to travel and is a bit spontaneous.”

Ms Light said her “husband” on the show, Tim, “ticks a lot of (her) boxes”.

She said she had an “extraordinary” journey while on the show.

“I’ve made friends for love and I’m having a beautiful love story unravel,” she said.

“I would recommend it to anybody.”
