The son of a bikie has begged a magistrate to let him leave Geelong after he was busted with drugs and an imitation firearm.

Wade Websdale told a court he kept offending because he was living in Geelong and instead wanted to move to Melton.

But Magistrate John Bentley told the 29-year-old Melton was the “South Bronx” of Victoria and had more criminals than “Norlane and Corio put together”.

Websdale faced the Geelong Magistrates Court after he was found by police sleeping on a couch in Norlane next to an imitation firearm and an extendible baton.

Websdale, the son of former Rebels Geelong chapter president Colin “Snake” Websdale, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges including possessing the imitation firearm and possessing two drugs of dependence.

In October 2021, police were called to a home in Corio for unrelated reasons and found Websdale, 29, leaving in a “drug-affected state”.

Police raided the property and found 9.81 grams of methamphetamine and 17.57 grams of GBH in a satchel bag around Websdale’s waist, a Stanley knife in his jacket pocket and drug paraphernalia in his car.

He told police the methamphetamine was for personal use because he had an “addiction to ice” and said the knife was for “protection”.

In February, Websdale was seen walking into his ex-partner’s backyard and lighting a couch on fire.

After Websdale fled, neighbours noticed the flames and extinguished the fire before emergency services arrived.

Websdale was also before the court for the theft of three cars from a compound in Mount Duneed in November last year.

In February this year, police were called to North Shore after reports a suspicious motorcycle had been left at a home.

While officers were investigating, Websdale drove up in a white van, noticed the police and fled in the vehicle.

Speaking directly to Magistrate John Bentley, Websdale said he did not “really want to be in Geelong anymore” but was being kept in the area by a now-breached community corrections order.

Mr Bentley ordered Websdale get assessed for a community corrections order, noting he had already spent 139 day in custody for these offences, but said there would be “lots of drug testing”.

“Don’t think escaping Geelong is going to cure your problems because in Melton, there’s drugs on every street corner,” Mr Bentley said.

Mr Bentley said Websdale must “stay off drugs”.
