Full list of ATAR cut-offs for every university course: Most popular degrees revealed as offers released

The full list of university degrees with 99.95 ATAR cut-offs has been revealed, and some of them may surprise you. Find out what the cut-off for the course you want to study is.

Joint duxes reveal secret to 99.7 ATAR

More than 40,000 year 12 students in NSW will find out today if they have secured entry into their dream course as the first round of university offers are released.

From 7:30am, students will be emailed by NSW’s Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) and will find out if they have received any tertiary offer.

For the first time this year, International Baccalaureate students in Australia have also been included in the December offer round.

UAC has processed 40,116 offers in its second round of offers this month – the first ATAR-based round since HSC results were revealed last week.

UAC has also released the lowest selection scores – or ATAR cut-offs – for 2,662 degrees, diplomas and certificates across 30 universities and colleges.

There are 20 courses offered only to students with ATARs adding up to 99.95 – the highest possible rank, achieved by only 51 students in total across NSW in 2024.

These included a Bachelor of Laws and a double degree in science and “creative intelligence and innovation” at UTS, Ancient History by distance through La Trobe, and a Bachelor of Education specialising in primary and special education at the Australian Catholic University.

UAC Interim Managing Director Kim Paino said the “lowest selection rank” listed is the ATAR plus any “adjustment factors” – more commonly known as ‘bonus points’ – of the lowest-ranked student to be given an offer in this round.

A course listed with a 99.95 selection rank may have been offered to a student with up to 10 bonus points.

“If it’s got a lowest selection rank of 99.95, the lowest ATAR of the students that they’ve offered to in this particular offer round is anywhere around 90 and above … and that could just be a function of the fact that (the universities) haven’t made very many offers to year 12 students in this round,” she explained.

A high selection rank doesn't necessarily indicate the difficulty of a degree.
A high selection rank doesn't necessarily indicate the difficulty of a degree.

Selection ranks are merely a reflection of “supply and demand”, she said, and bear little or no correlation to how difficult the course is – a high selection rank often indicates the course is either very popular, has very few places available, or both.

“Take for example law at the University of Sydney; if they’ve only got 100 offers they can make, they’ve got many, many, many more than that who have put it on their preference list, so they’re just going to go down 100 spots and cut it off there,” Ms Paino said.

More than 1000 degrees and diploma courses have no selection rank available yet, some of which have a preliminary ATAR cut-off for the next round of offers in January.

Courses with selection ranks marked “not applicable” include those where factors other than an ATAR are considered and degrees that had already been pre-filled through early entry programs, Ms Paino explained.

The Australian National University, for example, has not issued any offers through UAC in this round due to their exhaustive early offer scheme.

Students can accept the offer immediately and may also be able to enrol straight away, depending on their institution, however Ms Paino said students can still change their mind if they get a better offer in January.
