Tremayne Sadler is in the form of his life.
The 25-year-old has been one of NPL Victoria club Moreland Zebras’ key men in their fight for promotion, but while that hasn’t gone to plan the Division 2 team has gone on a deep FFA Cup run.
Sadler returned to Queensland with the Zebras for Wednesday night’s quarter-final fixture against Brisbane City at Perry Park, where the former Far North junior said he felt better than he ever had.
“It’s been up and down for the club. We missed promotion but we’ve had a good FFA Cup run,” Sadler said.
“But I’m probably playing the best season of my career.
“I think I’ve matured quite a bit in the past five years, and I’m playing for a great coach.”
Sadler was a junior at Marlin Coast and Edge Hill United before he moved to Brisbane as a 14-year-old to pursue his dream of playing high-level professional football.
That dream no longer dominates his reason for playing the game; he is now driven more by his passion for the game than wanting to play at the highest level.
Sadler, who made the FFA Cup quarter-final with Oakleigh Cannons in 2015, knew what to expect when he took the field at Perry Park, but it didn’t make the occasion any less special for the FNQ product.
