Evil backpacker killer Ivan Milat has oesophagus cancer that has spread to his stomach.
The 74-year-old, who was convicted of murdering seven backpackers in the Belanglo State Forest, has been moved from his cell in Supermax to the high-security section of Sydney’s Prince of Wales Hospital.
Even sick in his hospital bed the multiple murderer remains handcuffed or cuffed by the ankles, as is the standard procedure for high risk inmates. This morning two prison guards remained stationed outside his room.

Milat: Unsolved question remains
Milat was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus after his weight plummeted to 66kg and he complained of not being able to keep his food down.
He began complaining after he lost 20kg in less than two months and was struggling to swallow.
By the time the largely symptom-free cancer was picked up it had spread to a second malignant tumour in his stomach. He is also understood to have the early stages of dementia.
It is unlikely he will return from hospital to Goulburn Supermax and will be transferred to the prison wing at Long Bay Hospital where he will join other notorious criminals including killer and rapist Arthur “Neddy” Smith.
The once powerfully built road worker was sentenced to life in jail for the murders of the seven backpackers between 1989 and 1993. They were shot, stabbed and one was beheaded.
Inquests have also linked him to the disappearance of other young people who vanished while Milat was on road gangs working in their area.
Milat has never confessed to the killings and has continued to protest his innocence. Senior NSW Police officers today said they will not seek to interview him with the hope of a death bed confession or clues to the whereabouts of his other victims unless he indicates that he wants to talk.
It is not the first time Milat has suffered dramatic weight loss — in 2011 he shed 25kg after he went on hunger strike to try and get a PlayStation in his cell.
