A third grade batter for Torquay and a second grade bowler for Guild St Mary’s finished on top of the charts at the end of the Geelong local cricket seasons.
Torquay batter Steve Young hit 44 more runs than any other player across every Geelong Cricket Assocation and Bellarine Pensinsula Cricket Association competition, finishing with 842 runs in 13 digs with a high score of 139 in GCA2 third grade.
Young hit an unbeaten 110 in the final match of the season and was instrumental in helping the Tigers scrape into the finals by three points.
Meanwhile, Guild St Mary’s cricketer Vishal Yadav was unstoppable in GCA4 second grade with 44 poles for the season at an average of 11.6, including best figures of 6-21.
He was four wickets ahead of Drysdale quick Blake Dobbin, who was the leading wicket-taker in the BPCA with 40 scalps at 10.1.
Ocean Grove batter Greg Scapa was the leading runscorer across the BPCA competitions with 717 runs in BPCA C1.
