Police have arrested four kids after they allegedly threatened a man with a knife and stole his car.

March 29: Four children have been arrested after they allegedly stole a car and used it to ram raid a Darwin service station.

An NT Police spokesman said police received reports a group of three kids had allegedly threatened a man with a knife in his Wanguri home before stealing his car at 8.40pm Thursday.

The spokesman said the same vehicle was reported being used in an alleged ram raid at a Fannie Bay service station about 12.30am Friday.

He said the car’s driver allegedly fled the scene when police arrived, leading cops on a car chase down the Stuart Hwy.

The spokesman said tyre deflation devices were used to apprehend the vehicle and four children – aged between 11 and 14 – were arrested.

He said three kids were expected to be charged on Friday and an 11-year-old had been released into the care of a responsible adult.

The spokesman urged any witnesses to contact police and quote reference number 2400031540.

Police search for alleged car thieves in Katherine

Two men allegedly entered a Katherine home bearing knives and threatened the occupants before stealing two vehicles, but police have yet to catch the men.

An NT Police spokesman said the duo threatened two residents in their Giles St home about 1am Friday.

He said after police attended the scene, they tracked one of the vehicles that had been targeting marked police cars.

The spokesman said no injuries or damage was reported, and the vehicle was later found dumped.

One of the stolen vehicles was a white 4-door Corolla Hatchback with registration CD26WS.

The spokesman said anyone with information should contact police on 131 444 and quote reference NTP2400031647.

Teenagers charged after alleged double-carjacking in Darwin

March 27, 3.50pm: Two teenagers will face court after allegedly stealing a pair of vehicles in a single night.

At about 9.00pm on Monday, police received reports that two kids had stolen a blue Toyota Corolla from a shopping centre on Trower Road, Casuarina.

Fuel was allegedly stolen by the alleged offenders at a service station in Berrimah before the vehicle was abandoned in Pinelands.

Police allege the youths then unlawfully entered a nearby property and stole a grey Ford Everest before allegedly stealing fuel from a Berrimah service station and abandoning the vehicle in Karama.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident began investigations and arrested two 15 year-old males on Tuesday morning.

Both teenagers were charged with theft, aggravated burglary, serious breach of bail, and using a motor vehicle without consent.

Both were remanded to appear in court on Wednesday.

Man arrested after methamphetamine, weapons seized in car search

March 27, 2.50pm: A traffic stop in Darwin ended with detectives and a drug detection dog finding a stash of weapons, cash and methamphetamine during a car search.

On Tuesday afternoon, a 33 year-old man was pulled over for a traffic stop near the entrance of the Peter McAulay Centre.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Section and the Dog Operations Unit proceeded to search the vehicle, in which two prohibited Glock gel blasters and cash was located.

Drug Detection Dog Rafa then located a quantity of methamphetamine.

The 33 year-old man was charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, possession and supply of a schedule one dangerous drug, driving with a prohibited drug in body, driving at a dangerous speed and failing to obey direction.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court on Wednesday.

An NT Police spokesman addressed the bust.

“Illicit substances cause substantial harm to the Darwin community and police will continue to disrupt their supply and distribution,“ he said.

“Police would remind the public, whether they come into your possession for recreational or profit reasons, all versions are prohibited firearms.”

Man hospitalised after alleged attack in Winnellie

March 27, 12.15pm: A middle-aged woman has been arrested after an alleged domestic violence attack in public.

On Monday, around 5.30pm, a 40 year-old man was allegedly assaulted with an edged weapon outside a Winnellie business.

The victim suffered injuries to his hand and was conveyed to hospital to receive treatment.

Police confirmed a 37-year-old woman, allegedly known to the man, was taken into custody.

Detectives from the Domestic and Family Violence Unit are calling for anyone with dashcam footage or further information to contact 131 444.

Bailed teen charged after alleged govt building burglary

March 26, 12.15pm: A 15 year-old on bail has been charged with a string of offences after a weekend crime spree in Palmerston, with police expecting further charges to be laid.

At about 8.00pm on March 22, police allege the 15 year-old male and other unknown alleged offenders unlawfully entered a government premises on Palmerston Circuit where they caused damage before fleeing the scene.

It is further alleged that the group returned to the same location over the following two days.

During that time, police say the alleged offenders stole cash and credit cards, and caused further damage to the area.

Police allege the group tried to use the stolen credit cards multiple times across the Palmerston area.

On Monday, a 15 year-old was arrested by Strike Force Trident.

He has been charged with: 11 counts of damage to property, eight counts of aggravated burglary, 6 counts of theft, and three counts of obtaining benefit by deception, attempted aggravated burglary and serious breach of bail.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Christopher Humphries confirmed a 12 year-old had also been arrested.

“Detectives from Strike Force Trident arrested a 12-year-old (alleged) co-offender last week in relation to parts of this offending, and have identified additional (alleged) offenders with further arrests and charges are expected,” he said.

“As always, anyone with information in relation to these unlawful entries is urged to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 2400027419.”

Woman’s lung collapses after scissor stabbing

March 25: A Wadeye woman suffered multiple stab wounds to her back and a collapsed lung after an altercation with a female youth, police say.

The 22-year-old woman presented to the local clinic on Sunday, and was later taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital for the treatment of “non-life threatening injuries”.

NT Police attended the scene where they found a pair of scissors – the alleged weapon – and established a crime scene.

The alleged offender has been identified and investigations continue.

In a statement on Monday, Superintendent Paul Faustmann said local police and Serious Crime were investigating.

“Police would like to thank the community members who have already provided information and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to attend their local police station or to make contact on 131 444,” Superintendent Faustmann said.

Man allegedly set woman’s clothes on fire

March 25: A man who allegedly set his partner’s clothes on fire near a popular Darwin shopping precinct has been ordered to face court.

NT Police on Saturday were called to Dripstone Rd after a woman was reportedly assaulted by her 40-year-old male partner.

In a statement, police allege the man repeatedly assaulted her before lighting her clothes on fire.

Her clothes were extinguished by witnesses.

The woman was then taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

The 40-year-old man was charged with reckless endanger serious harm and a count of aggravated assault.

He was remanded to appear for the first time in Darwin Local Court on Monday, March 25.
